the New Ornament Punch

Stampin' Up punches are so great.  They can always be used in other ways than their original intended purpose.
The vase is made by using the new Ornament punch leaving off the bottom point.
This punch is available in the Holiday Mini Catalog until January 4, 2010.  Item # 116794.  You can order that from my SU website!
Of course there are stamps to coordinate with the punch also available from the same mini catalog.  (pgs 24 - 25)

Stamps used:  Flight of the Butterfly (pg. 108); Pocket Silhouettes (pg. 97)
Colors used:  Perfect Plum,Elegant Eggplant, Certainly Celery
Also used:  Top Note Die (pg 198); Stampin' Pastels (pg 154);  Stampin' Sponges (pg 192); VersaMark ink pad (pg. 190); corner rounder punch and Butterfly punch (pg 187) & Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions Folder (pg 21 in the mini catalog); Silver elastic cord (pg 27 in mini catalog) was used for the antenna
The technique I used is called "Poppin' Pastels"  This is such a great technique.  You can get as much color as you'd like or as pastel.  First, stamp your image using VersaMark ink.  Next, using cotton balls or cotton swaps, color chalk over the stamped area.  It is really very easy to blend colors using this technique.  I sponged the edges of the vase & butterfly with Elegant Eggplant to give more depth then applied them to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Butterfly birthday card....

This is a card I made for a dear friend who shares the same birth date as me. The colors used are Regal Rose, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and Old Olive.
Flight of the Butterfly (pg 108 in the SU catalog) is the stamp set I used. This set is "two step" process which is very easy especially with the Stamp-a-ma-jig. (pg. 191) For the first step, I stamped the solid butterfly in So Saffron. For the second step I stamped the dotted edged butterfly in Regal Rose over the solid image using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. On another piece of card stock, I stamped a second solid butterfly, the flower butterfly over that one & cut it out, bent the wings up just a little and used a Stampin' Dimensional to apply. This was layered on Pretty in Pink card stock and mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals.

This card made me smile so I'm sure it should make my friend smile, too!
